GRANDMAS
GRANDMAS draw their inspiration from the post-industrial areas of the North West, in which they were raised. The social clubs and run-down seaside towns served up colourful and peculiar characters that GRANDMAS champion with their unorthodox perspective and unique brand of morbid humour.
‘Norteños’ - GRANDMAS’ short film - has won multiple awards and recognition at festivals including BIFA, Raindance, Aesthetica, Encounters, Clermont-Ferrand, LSFF and Slamdance as well as being featured as part of the Cannes New Creators Showcase 2022. After its run on the international festival circuit the film landed them a licensing deal with Canal+. They are also in development with BBC/NBC Universal to turn this into a TV series.
Their latest short 'Moon Under Water' was commissioned by BFI/BBC based on the character featured in their music video 'Down By The Tree'. Most recently it was shown at a special screening with Film4 at Aesthetica as well as having a special mention at LIFF. It is currently on the festival circuit.
GRANDMAS controversial spot for Channel 4's Climate Season won them 3 awards at the British Arrows in 2024. They are in development on multiple projects including two feature films, one with BBC Film and the other with Film4 and Academy, plus multiple television projects in the pipeline.
